"Guardian" It is a chimera, part man, part beast, and is done in response to the current efforts in genetics research. Mankind, in its efforts to uncover the secrets of genetics, is uncovering the secrets to creating new, hybrid life forms with the science, and we must proceed with extreme caution in this field.  "Madonna" (Literally, meaning "mother", which implies that she has a child). The inspiration of the piece is a mother with a child who is not well. So often, motherhood is portrayed as the pinnacle of happiness for a woman, but the mother of a sick child has no peace. She is very protective of that child, and although she may be physically and emotionally drained, she is spiritually at her most beautifull here--as is anyone who puts the concerns of another above their own.
